Blockbuster New Study Decries Mountaintop Removal

A powerful new study is being released in Science, one of the world’s most respected scientific journals, which reaffirms what citizen groups have been saying for decades: That mountaintop removal causes devastating and irreversible harm to the humans, streams, mountains and wildlife of Central Appalachia.

We are thankful to the excellent scientists who have dedicated so much to the issue of mountaintop removal – and hopeful that the Obama administration, which has repeatedly affirmed it’s commitment to following sound science, will use follow the findings of this study to their logical conclusion and end mountaintop removal coal mining.
